Director, Office of Graphic Design
Gorland Mar pursued fine arts as an undergraduate at Oklahoma State, earning his BFA at Phillips University in his hometown of Enid, Oklahoma. Soon after graduation, Gorland landed at TCU in 1992 — in the days when pasting up was still the standard. An illustrator, he has delved into every aspect of University publications, now serving as director of the department. Gorland and his wife, Rhealene, have two young children, Austin and Olivia.
Assistant Director, Office of Graphic Design
As a type fanatic, Liz Parks has done more than just dabble in branding, editorial creative, packaging and directing full campaigns -- both in print and digital realms. Working for the likes of Cook Children’s, Southwest Airlines, and TXU, she applies her corporate and identity experience to higher education through strategic creative with an emphasis on institutional branding.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Bellevue University. She has been a member and contributor to the American Marketing Association, Dallas Society of Visual Communications and various AIGA chapters. Dogs of any type, but especially Boxers, make her heart smile.
Senior Art Director
John began his career at TCU in 1988. Since then, John has helped produce more than 1,800 publications. His experience includes logo and branding design, brochures, catalogs, magazine advertising and posters. Prior to TCU, John worked with Graphics 2 and Hanson Printing. He has been involved in over 50 award-winning designs from several university associations. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University.
Tracy Sterling Bristol
Tracy Sterling Bristol is a summa cum laude graduate of TCU, where she was a Nordan Fine Arts Scholar and national winner of the Nissan Student Advertising Competition. Before coming to TCU as an art director/writer she held associate creative director positions at a number of Dallas ad agencies, where she created print and broadcast advertising for national brands such as Quaker Oats, Johnson & Johnson, and Satellite Sports Network. Her 30+ years of experience also include working as a television art director at KXAS-TV.
Tracy's expertise includes concept and strategy, art direction, copywriting/editing, and video and broadcast production. For the past 13 years at TCU she has divided her time and talents between The TCU Magazine and the Office of Graphic Design. She has received awards for both design and writing, and is a seasoned presenter at conferences and communication classes.
Tracy is married and has two adult children. She enjoys theater, organic gardening and collecting cool stuff from the Mad Men era.
Jonie Good Smith
Community Projects and Church Relations
Jonie joined the Marketing & Communication team in 2003. She supports the Office of Graphic Design, Editorial Services and the Office of Website & Social Media Manageent. Jonie also serves as assistant to the Executive Director of Community Projects and works closely with the Minister to the University and the office of Church Relations.
